Flexo Guards©

Here are some examples of configurations for different types of conditions.
This shows how versatile the Flexo Guards© can be.

ABM FLEXO GUARD GRAIN SAVER BOOT INSTALLATION

The ABM 2005 Grain Saver Boot was designed to retrieve lost shatter by catching it in their specially formed valley and funneling it back onto the platform. The ABM 2005 is most effective in dry or low moisture conditions, when grain shatter is most likely.  The ABM 2005 Grain Saver Boots also prevent tine wire damage due to sickle contact and especially if you are using bolt-on type sickle sections.

(Note: For appropriate Grain Saver Boot configuration see configuration section.

1. First remove all Flexo Guard Sections from your header.  Replace any damaged or missing tine wires.  To install the Grain Saver Boot, slide it over the Flex Guard finger in direction shown in Figure A.  With a rubber mallet or block of wood and hammer, gently strike the end of the Grain Saver Boot until it is fully seated onto the Flexo Guard Finger.  To make sure, check that the Flexo Guard Finger is just touching the inside tip of the Grain Saver Boot.  Use the cutout provided on the nose for this inspection.

2. When all desired Grain Saver Boots are fitted per step 1, lay the section up-side-down on a hard flat surface.  Using a screwdriver, firmly snap the tine wires in the grooves provided starting at the nose and working to the tail.  See Figure B.

3. You are now ready to secure the Grain Saver Boots by installing the Hog Rings.  Using a pair of Hog Ring pliers or regular pliers, crimp the Hog Ring in the holes provided at 45 degrees from the Flexo Guard Fingers.  Reference Figure C arrow for appropriate angle and line.  Install or reinstall the Flexo Guard Sections on your header using Flexo Guard installation instructions if needed.  You are now ready to cut.

4. After your first day of cutting, inspect the Hog Rings for fit.  The Hog Rings are required on all ABM Grain Saver Boots to insure they stay on the Flexo Guard.  You may substitute 12-guage wire instead of the Hog Rings.
